Sunday Roast serves up a wildly delusional satirical play on the
ritual of family dinner… with a shocking twist.
Fourteen-year-old Rupert has been taken into foster care by the Giles family. A household made up of a laid-back father, an overbearing mother, two squabbling sisters, a pretentious son-in-law, a depressive son and a wildly-sexual daughter. Rupert is out of his depth when he enters this unconventional home, waiting patiently for a ‘seat’ at the table. It’s a family gathering, sure, but with a twist.
‘Sunday Roast’ was written by award-winning Kiwi playwright and ‘powerhouse of creativity’ Thomas Sainsbury.
The eight characters are brought to life by actors Courtney Ally Miller and Ben McCarthy. The show is creatively consulted by Fabio Motta.
